1992 saw the formation of the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation to help fund Lions projects, most particularly those relating to sensory impairment programs within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. When the Internal Revenue Service determined that the donations to local Lions Clubs and Districts are not tax deductible the Lions of Pennsylvania formed and became a “501- C3” tax exempt corporation. This permits individuals, corporations, and other philanthropic entities to deduct charitable contributions given to the Foundation. The Foundation was established as an organization that would seek financial support and provide resources to carry out the mission of the Foundation. The Vision of the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation is to have a permanent vehicle to provide financial, social support, and resources for the visually, hearing, and physically challenged residents of Pennsylvania.
Our grant program is significant. Nearly $70,000 is awarded each year to Pennsylvania Lions projects that meet our criteria.
