District Governor's Message
At the 100th Convention of Lions Clubs International, I was installed as District Governor. It was a wonderful experience that my predecessors have enjoyed; and now, I’m prepared to help you take the steps to experience it too. My Governor’s Theme is “There are no small parts,” which is an old theater saying that relates to exactly what we are as Lions. Every Lion, Lioness, and Leo plays a part in our wonderful organization and we all play different parts, in different ways, at different times in our life. There are so many ways to serve, and so many areas that need service, that can’t be done unless you play your part. Are you ready to audition for a new role? I am here to help you play your part to its fullest and encourage you to take one more step forward.
I’m starting a membership campaign this year and hope that your club will participate. I’m calling it the 2x2 campaign. We are taught the buddy system all our lives, and I believe it will work in Lionism as well. So, if you can ‘Ask 1’ don’t stop there; suggest that they ask a buddy to join too! At the Governor’s Visit to your club, I would like to induct 2 new Lions. After the induction, your club will be awarded a banner patch that night! You'll be surprised who is waiting to be asked, and some just need to be asked again. Is your local banker in your club? How about your insurance agent? Your Pastor and members of the church council make great members because they know who in the community needs our service. Have you asked a Police Officer or a member of the town Council or Supervisor? They also have first hand knowledge of the people in your area who need our help. Be sure to ask your Parents - Kids - Grandchildren. You will love bonding and spending extra time together.
